WHAT DO YOU SEE AS THE 3 BIGGEST CHALLENGES IN THE WORLD TODAY? AND HOW CAN YOU WORK ON THAT AS A PROFESSIONAL?
INDIVIDUAL PART:
- The first thought that appeared in my mind was "3th world". This is a big concept which includes a lot of things. If you want to work it as a professional I think it's interesting to reflect about the first world and compare it with the third world: how it is, what there are and there aren't, etc. Sometimes it's difficult to do because it's an extensive topic, so it was good to break it down. For example hunger, wars, poverty, etc.
- The second term that I chose was the global warming. We can observe that the climate is changing. It's important to be conscious that the change is in our hands and if we don't do anything, nothing will change. Teaching what the global warming is and why it's happening, and perhaps make a little experiment to show them what is happening. Also it was good to teach how to be responsible with the global warming.
- Finally, I thought about technology. Nowadays it's everywhere, so what would we do without it? and how would be the future? It's interesting to reflect about technology and when we use it.
First we explained our own ideas, some of them repeated, and how could we work them as a professional.
Then we decided to choose some shared ideas and discuss them.
Our ideas were: Global warming, Poverty and War.
We talked about how to teach these biggest challenges, because there isn't a easy work.
- To teach the global warming we need to know what it is, so we have to inform the children what it is, what we can do, etc. As a teacher, is important to be a rolemodel.
- We thought that to learn what the poverty is you should see it, so it was good show to the pupils poverty; maybe with a film or an excursion/travel. After that make them aware of the differences and reflect what they can do.
- The best learning about the war is not to do it. So we should teach to the children to use non-violent solutions.
